Buffalo killing festival

Bana Krien ethnic minority in Vinh Thanh mountainous district annually holds the buffalo killing festival to wish for a bumper crop. At present, the festival is also held for such various aims as victory, wedding, and prosperity.

Traditionally, the procedure of the buffalo killing festival is as follows: the worship to prepare for Tet pole, the Tet pole raising ceremony, the ceremony to tie the buffalo, the ceremony to cry the buffalo, the ceremony to kill the buffalo, and the ceremony to celebrate the communal house.

The ceremony to lower the buffalo's head is held in the following day for praying Gods, which also ends the festival.
