Statistics show that the Binh Dinh's export turnover reached US$231 million, accounting for 82.5% of the yearly target and a surge of 34% over 2006, after ending the third quarter of 2007. Provincial enterprises are now intensifying export activities to complete the 2007-quota of export turnover.
Overcome difficulties
At the beginning of 2007, the export faced many difficulties. Particularly, the last month of the first quarter saw the export turnover reached over $13.8 million, a year-on-year decrease of 16.5% and the total export turnover in the first quarter contributed $81 million, accounting for 29% of yearly target.
With the support of functional bodies and agencies, Binh Dinh's enterprises have made an effort to overcome difficulties, effectively operating their business. As a result, the export turnover in 9 months of 2007 recorded at nearly $231 million, accounting for 82.5 % of yearly target and a surge of 34% over 2006, according to Binh Dinh Department of Trade.
Binh Dinh Food Co., Ltd (BIDIFOOD) is one of enterprises having high export turnover. It previously faced many difficulties owing to the competition among enterprises and the narrowed export market. BIDIFOOD, however, found its own way to make a breakthrough. At the end of September, its export turnover was up 39.3% with over $25.8 million.
Similarly, the export turnover of other enterprises considerably rose, such as Binh Dinh Mineral Joint Stock Company (85%), Phu Tai Joint Stock Company (46%), Tien Dat Wood Industry Joint Stock Company (48%), Anh Viet Trade Co., Ltd (33%), and Duyen Hai Private Enterprise (53%).
Hope for more positive results
Thanks to the WTO integration, the export reaped encouraging results. Enterprises had opportunities to expand the market, overcoming difficulties when joining in a "big playground", according to Vice Director of Binh Dinh Trade Department, Nguyen Dinh Thu.
There existed, however, some limitations and difficulties, such as the lack of highly qualified human resource, and the small and medium scale that couldn't fulfil partners' requirements for big contracts, added Thu.
Despite limitations and difficulties, with positive results in 9 months of 2007, Binh Dinh's enterprises are expected to complete the export quota in 2007. The remaining months of 2007 may see the breakthrough of enterprises to fulfil the yearly target of $280.
