Waste is a problem for many areas in Quy Nhon city. The "solid waste management and compost fertilizer production in the community" project has been effectively carried out in Nhon Phu Ward of Quy Nhon city.
The development of the society and urbanization made the ever-increase of waste disposal. A great amount of waste has badly affected the environment and the people's health.
The "solid waste management and compost fertilizer production in the community" project solved the problem when being conducted in Quy Nhon City.
With the aid of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), Environment Development Action Organization in Vietnam (ENDA Vietnam), Quy Nhon City People's Committee set up the steering board and project administration to conduct the project in Quy Nhon City's Nhon Phu Ward.
The establishment of compost fertilizer processing factory was highly appreciated. It recycles waste, producing organic fertilizer. Also, the people's awareness of the environment protection has been enhanced.
Thanks to experiences learned from the visit to Bangladesh, we will patiently carry out the project effectively, according to Vice Chairman of Nhon Phu Ward People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Ngo.
The compost fertilizer processing factory is now able to treat 2-3 tons of waste per day. Afer six months of operation, nearly 20 tons of organic fertilizer have been produced.
The effectiveness of the project proved an appropriate solution for the environmental pollution in Quy Nhon City. "People are partly realizing the effectiveness of the project. The environment at residential areas has gradually been improved," said head of Nhon Phu agriculture co-operative No 1, Nguyen Van Bui.
