Binh Dinh Industry Department has currently been conducting a survey of provincial key ashlar granite mines. The survey is going to be finished in July, 2007 and there will be then a detailed project laying the basis for managing and licensing the certificate of investment according to the State’s regulations, vice-chairman of Binh Dinh Industry Department Nguyen Van Thang said.

Binh Dinh is a province having large ashlar granite reserves. The ashlar granite processing industry in Binh Dinh has strongly developed in recent time. There have been about 30 ashlar granite processing enterprises in Binh Dinh so far with the capacity of 500,000 tons per year. However, the industry hasn’t developed sustainably and caused a waste of resources because the licence and the process of exploiting ashlar granite haven’t been projected.
