First 6 months of 2007: socio-economic situation continues developing
6:44', 23/6/ 2007 (GMT+7)

Binh Dinh province People’s Committee on June 20 held a meeting to evaluate the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2007 and conduct the last 6-month-issues. The permanent Vice-chairman of Binh Dinh province People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Thien, chaired the meeting.

In the first 6 months, the provincial socio-economic situation has continued developing despite some disadvantages affecting the people’s life and production activities, such as the increase of oil and electricity, the presence of pestilent insects, and the recurrence of epidemic diseases. The total local production value recorded at VND3.045 trillion, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year, in which the industry and construction were up 28.3%, service surged by 14.7%, and agricultural, forest and aquatic products were up 1.7%. The provincial people’s life and the public order were stabilized. Apart from this, there were still several problems badly affecting the development, such as: the illegal titan exploiting activities, the encroachment on public land and the illegal construction in many places, the slow progress of constructing the technical infrastructure in the Nhon Hoi economic zone and other industrial zones.

For the last 6-month-issues, the provincial People’s Committee steered the functional bodies and agencies to strengthen the prevention and control of the epidemic diseases of domestic animals and cattle, conduct the plan to manage the mines and strictly deal with the illegal titan exploiting activities. The Committee also ordered related departments to keep the stable rate in producing advantaged goods from now to the end of the year and hasten the project, the construction of the infrastructure, and the completion of formalities relating to land so that enterprises can speed up their production.
