Make a breakthrough
The Ministry of Aquiculture and Binh Dinh province People’s Committee invested over VND20 billion in constructing the first phase of Tam Quan fishing port in 2002-2003. When being operational, it created favorable conditions for nearly 1,000 fishing vessels to anchor.
However, owing to the lack of proper investment, there existed the limitations. The second phase-construction of Tam Quan fishing port will, therefore, enhance its effectiveness and contribute to the development of sea economy in Hoai Nhon. Hoai Nhon District’s authorities simultaneously planned to build an aquatic product processing area in Tam Quan Commune and upgrade Tam Quan Bac market. Hoai Nhon Aquatic product Joint-Stock company and other small scale ones have enlarged their production.

Awake to the potential
“The sea economy is identified as one of the key economic sectors in Hoai Nhon District. There are now 1,900 fishing vessels in Hoai Nhon in which the number of offshore fishing boats accounted for more than 70%. The second phase construction of Tam Quan fishing port will create favorable conditions for them,” said Chairman of Hoai Nhon District People’s Committee, Nguyen Trung Hau.
At the kick-off ceremony of Tam Quan fishing port, thousands of fishermen attended, sharing their happiness because their dream is coming true. “Tam Quan Bac is the place where the fishing develops most. There are over 500 vessels with the capacity of 90CV fishing offshore. Tam Quan fishing port will strongly improve the fishing here,” Chairman of Tam Quan Bac Commune People’s Committee, Dao Duy Hoi.
