Advantages of wind energy like the social-economic effectiveness and environment show that this source of alternative energy has prospects and is widely used in many countries.

Fortunately, Vietnam has 3,000 km of coast and the annual monsoon, which is the most favorable conditions for the exploration of wind energy. Researchers have identified optimal positions to build large-scale wind power plants in Vietnam.
The Central Region Wind Power Joint Stock Company on September 12 kicked off the construction of Phuong Mai 3 wind power plant with a capacity of over 55 million KW per year in Cat Tien Commune of Phu Cat district in central province of Binh Dinh.
This is not only a good sign for Binh Dinh but a “starting point” for other provinces nationwide to explore the plentiful source of wind energy because it is the first wind power project with the capacity of 21 megawatts in Vietnam.
Phuong Mai peninsula where the wind power plant will be built has Nui Ba mountain range whose highest peak of 609 meters plays the role as a screen directing the wind. There will be two main wind directions annually: the winter monsoon and summer monsoon, which will be very convenient for power generation.
According to the study, the wind speed from 10 am to 09 pm is stronger than from 10 pm to 9 am. The power generation will, therefore, be able to meet demands of using power.
Also, the landscape around the plant and wind turbines will be the basis for the future infrastructure of tourism in this area.
