Binh Dinh Department of Trade and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Da Nang held the seminar on "Italian market and wood processing industry. Viet Hien asked Trade Commissioner of the HCM City-based Italian Trade Commission (I.C.E), Marco Saladini, about the export of wooden furniture to Italy.
Q: Could you brief on Italian Trade Commission as well as HCM City-based I.C.E ?
A: I.C.E's headquarter and 16 offices are in Rome and it has nearly 100 representative offices worldwide. I.C.E aims to promote the economic and trade relationship between Italy and other countries, providing the information about export, industry and trade cooperation for enterprises.
Q: Could you talk more about the trade relationship between Vietnam and Italy and wood processing industry?
A: The cooperation between two countries has been considerably promoted. The effectiveness is not, however, very high. The number of Vietnam's wooden products exported to Italian market has increased. My visit to Binh Dinh is mainly to further the trade relationship and investment activities between two countries.
Q: To export more products to Italy, what do Vietnamese enterprises need to prepare?
A: They need "support desk for export". Businesses in Italy and European countries are very familiar with this term. It provides the information relating to trade and export, helping businesses operation effectively.
Vietnamese enterprises need to pay attention to the relationship with embassies of Vietnam in Europe, Chamber of Commerce, and trade promotion agencies. They also need to further promotion activities.
Q: What is the role of I.C.E ?
A: We often hold many promotion activities, international trade fairs, seminars, and training course, providing the information about markets, customs procedures, and tax for Vietnamese and Italian enterprises.
HCM City-based I.C.E can provide the latest information for importers and exporters, let alone trade magazines and books about market research, assisting them in finding partners and offering commercial dispute resolution.
In 2007, I.C.E introduced 12 companies specializing in technologies and equipment in wood processing industry at Vietnam Woodworking Industry Exhibition. I hope the trade cooperation between Vietnam and Italy would further develop and Italian market would attract more and more Vietnamese enterprises, including those in Binh Dinh.
