Strengthen human resources training in Binh Dinh

Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) and its subsidiaries have focused on the strategy for developing the human resources in Binh Dinh as well as in the central region.

The establishment of shipbuilding industry vocational secondary school V (Shinco V) in Binh Dinh aims to meet the demand.

Vinashin is one of State-owned business group with over 300 subsidiaries in 31 provinces and cities. Under its development strategy by 2010, Vinashin will employ a total of 120,000 staff.

To meet its demand, Vinashin annually has to train and employ nearly 15,000 workers, 400 managerial staff, and 1,200 experts.

It set up Shinco V in Binh Dinh last year, majoring in shipbuilding techniques, and other related fields. Nine courses have been opened since then and 1,000 newly enrolled students annually.

The figure is expected to provide the human resources for its factories in Dung Quat, Phu Yen, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, and even Binh Dinh in the future.

Shinco V also planned to train the officials for ports and sailors, targeting at general ports and fleets in Binh Dinh.

Vinashin invested VND60 billion in building Shinco V secondary school on an area of 4 ha in Binh Dinh, said Shinco V director Le Dinh Minh.

In 2009, Shinco V is to open courses for 1,000 students. It cooperated with universities and colleges to equip facilities to aid students.

Alongside regular training courses, Shinco V is planning to open some in-service courses in the future.
