Lam Son Food Export Import Co., Ltd, previously known as Lam Son Food Import Export Company, had faced many difficulties due to its ineffective business. However, it has recently improved its operation and become one of enterprises actively contributing to the development of aquiculture processing industry in Binh Dinh.
Overcome difficulties
Lam Son Company has operated as one-member limited liability company since October, 2006. This brings it not only advantages but challenges. Thanks to the effort of leaders and the staff, Lam Son Company has strongly developed.
The company’ leaders stabilized the organisation and systematically arranged the staff for the best operation. Despite most old equipment, the business has still been effective because we had to change measures in the new age, said Lam Son Company’s director, Huynh Thi Le Thuy.
Owing to the shortage of raw material, we focused on processing products of high added value to both save the source of raw material and improve the competitiveness. Therefore, in the one hand, we asked foreign partners to increase the price; on the other hand, we also improved the capacity to stabilize our business, Thuy added.
Currently, Lam Son Company has intensified its trade promotion by participating in seminars, fairs, and exhibitions. Also, thanks to such activities, it set up the relationship with many partners from Japan and European countries.
Initial achievements
After two years, Lam Son Company’s operation has been stable. Most of its products are exported to foreign markets, increasing the export turnover. The 2007’s export turnover recorded at US$4.6 million, a surge of 20 percent over 2006 and it also reached over $1.5 million in the first quarter this year, a rise of 30 percent over 2007.
Stable operation has helped the employees increase their income and created many positive changes.
The employees, therefore, believe in the company’s future, playing an important role in its development.
At present, Lam Son Company is focusing on upgrading machines and equipment and training workers. It also furthers the trade promotion to lower the risk in a very competitive market.
With the application of more machines and advanced technologies, Lam Son Company is expected to gain the export turnover of $5 million in 2008.
