Binh Dinh People’s Committee has paid special attention to the infrastructure, which is considered as a great advantage to attract investment.
The newest report released by the provincial People’s Committee said Binh Dinh is now one of central coastal provinces having fully worked-out infrastructure.
The province’s Chairman Nguyen Van Thien said the traffic system across the province has been synchronously built, including three national high ways through Binh Dinh and direct air routes.
The province’s sea route has strongly developed. Quy Nhon Port has a capacity of 4 million tonnes per year, receiving 30,000-DWT ships. It is also a hub where goods are delivered to southern provinces of Laos and northeastern areas of Cambodia.
Alongside this, Thi Nai Port is a large one which is able to receive 10,000 DWT-ships, let alone Nhon Hoi deep-water port which is now under construction.
Tam Quan Port locating in Hoai Nhon district has a capacity of 0.96 million tonnes per year. It is capable of receiving 3,000 DWT-ships. Also, Dong Da Port can accommodate 10,000 DWT ships.
Thien said Binh Dinh focused on developing industrial zones (IZs), aiming to attract more and more investment projects. According to the approved plan, the province will have 8 IZs with the total area of 1,761 hectares by 2020.
At present, Phu Tai IZ has attracted 108 projects and Long My 22. Other IZs are still under construction; thus, there are not many projects registered to invest in these IZs.
Industrial clusters were also approved to be set up. The construction of 24 of 30 ones has been carried out so far. Nine industrial clusters have been fully operated, attracting 436 small and medium sized businesses with the registered capital of over VND1 trillion.
Thien also said Binh Dinh plays an important role in the region, having potential for becoming an economic centre of the central key economic region in the south.
After Nhon Hoi Economic Zone is fully operational, the province is expected to attract many domestic and foreign investors. Binh Dinh may become a hub for the Mekong area and Asia-Pacific region in the future.
To fully develop, Binh Dinh still requires the planning and investment from the Government, focusing on Quy Nhon – Gia Lai highway, national highway No.19 from Quy Nhon Port to Gia Lai, and North-South expressway from Da Nang to Quy Nhon.
Binh Dinh also needs to upgrade Phu Cat airport to receive bigger planes. Besides, Quy Nhon Port and Thi Nai Port must be upgraded to increase their capacity.
