The first Vietnamese Rice Festival took place in Hau Giang province’s Vi Thanh town from November 28 to December 2 with the participation of 14 provinces and cities and many agricultural businesses nationwide. The central province of Binh Dinh also joined the event.

The Binh Dinh’s agriculture sector brought to the festival eight traditional products made from rice, including Chanh Trach sticky and ordinary rice, Ngoc An girdle cake with coconut milk, rice girdle cake, Song Than rice vermicelli, Bau Da wine, and banh it la gai (three-cornered glutinous rice cake filled with green bean paste and covered by pinnate leaf).

Two stalls in which Binh Dinh’s specialties were showcased attracted many visitors during the festival. They came to know more about the traditional products, bought some, and signed contracts. Fortunately, most products could meet their demands.

Bau Da wine was sold out; whilst, banh it la gai must be sent more from Binh Dinh to Vi Thanh. Even some leaflets instructing the rice cultivation technology attracted attention from many visitors, who wanted to apply the technology for the cultivation in their localities.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s delegation headed by Deputy Minister Bui Ba Bong also visited Binh Dinh’s stalls. Bong highly appreciated the responsibility of Binh Dinh’s agriculture sector, showing his interest in specialties from Binh Dinh.

Many dealers visiting Binh Dinh’s stalls wanted to sign contracts with Binh Dinh, aiming to consume its specialties.
