A conference on investment promotion in the central province of Binh Dinh is scheduled to be organised on January 20, 2010 in Quy Nhon city. Director of Binh Dinh Department of Planning and Investment Le Van Tam talks more about the issue.
Could you reveal the purposes of the upcoming investment promotion conference?
Binh Dinh, five provinces in the central key economic region, is located in a stragetic position which is rich in natural resources and having many famous landscapes and abundant workforce.
After the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone was set up, the province has attracted more and more investors. Many conferences and investment promotion programs have been held to introduce its potential, investment opportunities, and incentive policies and, as a result, these partly proved effective.
However, due to various reasons, the number of projects, particularly big-scaled ones, invested in Binh Dinh has fallen short of expectations so far.
At present, despite the financial crisis and global economic recession, investors still have many advantages, such as the Government’s stimulus packages, low-cost manpower and construction material, and signs of economic recovery. It’s time, thus, for investment opportunities.
Organizing investment promotion conferences in Binh Dinh and similar events at this time is necessary to introduce the province’s potential and advantages, aiming to attract more important projects and make a breakthrough in its socio-economic development.
As planned, the conference on investment promotion in Binh Dinh is scheduled to take place in January 20 next year in Quy Nhon city with the participation of representatives of different bodies, organisations, and businesses.
With the theme “Binh Dinh – an attractive destinations for investors”, the conference is expected to offer a panorama of the province’s conditions, infrastructure, policies, and other advantages to participants.
How about preparations for the event?
The conference is in order of priority; therefore, preparations have been underway for the coming event. The province’s leaders of relevant bodies worked with the Central agencies to ask for cooperation.
Also, an organisation board and sub-divisions were established to prepare for the conference.
The event will be widely introduced via the mass media. News and articles on the conference and related issues are expected to be published in different newspapers and websites, let alone hoardings and posters displayed along the city’s main streets.
Calling for sponsorship is also an important task, which will contribute to the success of the conference. Businesses, particularly those which are operating in Binh Dinh, are encouraged to sponsor the event.
What are expectations from the conference?
The investment promotion requires patience and money. The upcoming event is only one of programs aimed at introducing the province’s investment opportunities. We expect there will be some agreements signed at the conference. Investment promotion programs don’t immediately bring desired results, but they surely have positive signs.
Currently, the world as well as Vietnam’s economy has showed signs of recovery. Alongside this, the Government’s stimulus packages proved effective and the province’s infrastructure has gradually met investors’ demands.
The conference is expected to make a breakthrough in the province’s investment promotion policies.
