The State President Nguyen Minh Triet cut the ribbon to open Ha Noi-Quy Nhon air route. It is expected to create more opportunities to attract investment in not only Binh Dinh but provinces of Gia Lai, Kon Tum, and Phu Yen. Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien talked more about the issue.
Binh Dinh was determined to open the direct air route from Phu Cat to Ha Noi. What is the driving force?
At present, Binh Dinh has focused on developing the industry and services, particularly Nhon Hoi Economic Zone. The province has also implemented many measures to attract investors and tourists.

Binh Dinh is, however, experiencing difficulties in traveling by air. There is an ever-increasing demand for traveling from Quy Nhon to Ha Noi.
The direct air route is, therefore, expected to create favorable conditions for Binh Dinh to attract investors and tourists coming from the north.
Also, its neighboring provinces of Gia Lai, Kon Tum, and Phu Yen will benefit from the route. They will have more opportunities in the investment attraction and socio-economic development.
Passengers in provinces of Gia Lai and Phu Yen will be picked up freely to Phu Cat airport and could get a discount when staying at hotels in Quy Nhon.
In fact, many air routes are now unprofitable. Do you worry about this?
The Ha Noi-Quy Nhon air route will face difficulties in the short term, but we do believe that all will be over. In the long term, there will be many measures to attract passengers, including the discount airfare.
Will Binh Dinh be able to open more air routes to strengthen the investment attraction in the coming time?
At present, Quy Nhon-Ha Noi and Quy Nhon-HCM City are still two main routes. If possible, the province will be able to ask for more routes to meet requirements.
