Sai Gon Invest Group (SIG) is now conducting many projects in Binh Dinh, including the construction of Zone A infrastructure in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone (EZ). SIG Vice CEO and Director of Sai Gon-Nhon Hoi Industrial Zone JSC, Dang Nhut, talked more about the issue.
What do you think about the investment environment in Binh Dinh?
SIG has started to invest in Binh Dinh since mid 2006. There have been dramatically changes since then. At that time, Thi Nai Bridge was being built and Nhon Hoi EZ was just the wild land, but many investors investing in Nhon Hoi today.
SIG has also invested in other industrial zones and EZs and we saw the progress of Nhon Hoi EZ construction is really fast despite the economic regression.
Also, Nhon Hoi EZ Administration and functional bodies are more “professional”, creating favorable conditions for investors. I think the province’s investment environment will be better and better.
How about the progress of Zone A construction?
SIG has begun to build the infrastructure of Nhon Hoi EZ’s Zone A in 2008 with the capital of over VND200 billion. It is planned to finish in 6 years, but the construction has been finished by one third last year. Although there were many difficulties, we tried to shorten the progress.
The economy is forecasted to continue to regress this year, resulting in many difficulties for us to attract domestic and foreign partners. We, however, have advantages, such as the investment stimulus package, or the reduction of building materials.
As I know, SIG is also concerned about other fields in Binh Dinh, isn’t it?
Alongside the infrastructure construction in Nhon Hoi EZ, SIG has invested VND240 billion in building the biggest titanium slag factory in Binh Dinh.
SIG also submitted some industrial plants in Binh Dinh for the national development planning, consisting of Cat Khanh thermo-electric center project or pulp plant project approved to invest in Binh Dinh.
Do you have any suggestions?
The quality of those who are in charge of external affairs and investment promotion needs to be improved. The province’s policies should be clear and consistent.
Investors also hope that provincial leaders and relevant bodies will spend time helping businesses when they are in need.
The construction of technical infrastructure also requires the province’s support.
At present, SIG is preparing for two projects, Cat Khanh thermo-electric center and pulp plant; we therefore hope that the provincial authority will list them in the province’s socio-economic development program and create favorable conditions for the preparation, ensuring the raw materials for the pulp plant and titanium slag factory.
