After over one month of operation, Ha Noi-Quy Nhon air direct route has attracted many passengers. Binh Dinh Newspaper reporter interviewed head of Vietnam Airlines’ (VNA) representative office in Quy Nhon, Nguyen Van Thanh, about the issue.
Could you talk about the effectiveness of the route?
The Ha Noi-Quy Nhon air direct route has been fully operational since Jan. 16, aiming to meeting the demand for travelling in Binh Dinh and its neighboring provinces.
There have been 34 flights on this route with over 2,000 passengers since then. This could be an encouraging sign for a new air route.
Ha Noi –Quy Nhon direct route has created favourable conditions for passengers. Also, they will be freely picked up from Tuy Hoa town, Phu Yen province and An Khe, Gia Lai province. Hotels in Quy Nhon city also offer those who travel on the route a 30-50% discount when they stay at these hotels.
A large number of passengers traveled on this route during the Tet (lunar New Year) holiday. Could you forecast the number of passengers in the coming time?
The summer is coming. We therefore hope there will be more tourists from northern provinces travelling to Binh Dinh. The province is now implementing many measures to attract the investment; thus, the number of passengers using the air direct route is expected to increase.
Some complained that they couldn’t buy flight tickets at a discount during the promotion time. Could you explain this?
VNA offered discount airfares for those who travel on this route from Jan. 16 to 31. However, discount tickets were often booked in advance; therefore, there were not enough tickets for all.
VNA representative office in Quy Nhon asked VNA to offer other kinds of promotion tickets. Those who want to buy promotion tickets should book as soon as possible.
How about the plan to develop the air direct route?
It’s necessary to maintain the route, aiming to meet the demand for travelling to Binh Dinh. After over one month, the number of passengers carried on the route has increased. We hope the province will continue support the route.
We will also ask VNA to increase the flight frequency in the coming time, from three flights to four a week, to meet the demand for travelling to Binh Dinh in the summer holiday.
