In 2008, the infrastructure construction and projects in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone (EZ) were slowly implemented due to many reasons. With many advantages, the construction is expected to be strengthened this year. Head of Nhon Hoi EZ Management Board, Man Ngoc Ly, talked more about the issue.

Why was the infrastructure construction in Nhon Hoi EZ slowly carried out last year?

In 2008, the construction of Nhon Hoi EZ faced many difficulties, such as the global economic regression, the price increase of raw materials, and high interest rates.

Las year also saw a prolonged rainy season and changes in the policies for ground clearance and planning. Also, the management board, functional bodies, and local authorities haven’t closely cooperated with each other. Tasks weren’t, therefore, carried out effectively.

At present, difficulties in ground clearance are slowing down the process of investment projects. How will the issue be solved?

Many people in the area think that the province’s policy for compensation is not entirely satisfactory. The provincial People’s Committee adjusted the policy, particularly the support for vocational training and arrangement of resettlement area.

We affirmed that the province’s policies are appropriate. Also, we will continue to work with local authorities, aiming to help the households understand and accept the compensation for ground clearance.

What are the key tasks this year?

The 2009’s global economy is forecasted to regress, affecting the investment attraction and projects in Nhon Hoi EZ. However, this is also an opportunity to focus on the infrastructure construction thanks to the stimulus package.

Besides, the price decrease and low interest rates are other advantages for contractors to further the construction.

One of the main tasks this year is, therefore, to strengthen the implementation of key projects, aiming to create the best favorable conditions in the coming years.

The ground clearance will be focused on. Also, six new items are planned to finish in 2009.

The capital source will be 6 times higher than last year. The management and cooperation will be improved. And the operation of consultancy firms will be required to be effective.

We do believe that Nhon Hoi EZ will considerably change this year.
