Binh Dinh: destination for investment

Binh Dinh Newspaper’s reporter interviewed the Economic Attaché of the HCM City-based US Consulate General on his visit to Binh Dinh.

Your wife was born in Binh Dinh. You surely have special love for this land. What have you done to help your wife’s hometown when doing your duty?

This has been the third time I visited the central province of Binh Dinh. I’m always impressed with the province’s land and people. My Vietnamese teacher, who taught me Vietnamese, taught me the old folk-song “Whoever visits Binh Dinh would see its women practising martial arts” when knowing my wife was born in Binh Dinh.

I well know a Binh Dinh person and the others like the chairman of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group. When my wife’s relative and I visited An Lao District, I knew the place has dramatically changed. I also know how rural areas in Vietnam changed.

To further promote the cooperation between Binh Dinh and the America, we’ve visited Binh Dinh many times, aiming to know more about this land. I would say that let’s invest in Binh Dinh. As I know, Binh Dinh has a very high PCI (provincial competitiveness index), compared with other provinces and cities nationwide.

The bilateral relation between Vietnam and the US has reaped considerable achievements in recent years, particularly in fields of trade and economy. How will the relation develop after Barack Obama won the US Presidential Election, in your opinion?

The bilateral relation between two countries has further developed in the past four years. Vietnam’s leaders have carried out some visits to the US, showing the close bilateral relation between Vietnam and the America.

The cooperation between two countries was very limited 10 years ago. But it has been different now. Vietnam and America are now cooperating in various fields. The US investors expressed their concern for not only the industrial production and export but services, finance, and entertainment.

Working in Vietnam for years, you’ve known many AO/dioxin victims. What do you think about them and what have you done to help them?

I’ve visited many provinces in Vietnam and known a lot of disabled people. I myself helped them. They are worthy of being helped for any reason.

The US, including the Parliament, organisations, and people have made every effort to aid Vietnamese disabled people.
