Vietnam water supply sewerage and environment construction investment corporation (VIWASEEN CORP.) has been strengthening the progress of the bidding package No QN 1.1 under the Quy Nhon city environmental sanitation project. VIWASEEN CORP.’s official Dinh Quoc Chinh talks more about the issue.
Could you reveal the progress of bidding package No QN-1.1?
The bidding package No QN 1.1 worth VND138 billion comprises of 14 main components, such as drainage system improvement, Bau Sen lake upgrade, and other items.
VIWASEEN was assigned to carry out the package in 36 months. We met many difficulties owing to the increase of construction material and heavy rain last year, badly affecting the progress.
Initially, the company hadn’t got any particular solutions. Also, the shortage of workforce and other issues resulted in difficulties despite our effort.
VIWASEEN has built 724 meters of reinforced concrete sluice, 573 meters of HDPE pipe, and a wastewater pumping station until late March this year.
Due to the slow progress of the package, the project management board asked VIWASEEN to conduct the workload worth VND6 billion within 28 days, from Mar.26 to Apr 23. Did the company meet the requirement?
After being warned of possible termination of the contract, VIWASEEN worked out a set of measures to overcome shortcomings.
The company increased the number of workforce and materials, aiming the strengthen the progress of the package.
The province’s People’s Committee then held a meeting on evaluating the result of the 28-day workload. As a result, VIWASEEN was permitted to continue the bidding package.
Will the package be finished by January, 2011?
VIWASEEN has to complete a workload worth over VND6 billion each month from now. With such a heavy workload, we must make every effort to complete the package.
VIWASEEN, the project management board, and local authorities have carried out many measures. Workers are now trying their utmost to work all day. With such a progress, VIWASEEN could finish the package as expected.
