The province’s collective economy sector has being strengthened, making industries more various. However, there still exist some issues that need resolving. Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Cooperative Alliance, Ngo Thanh Ly, talks more about this.

What do you think about the operation of cooperatives in Binh Dinh?

Most have proved very profitable and some earned over VND500 million in post-tax profit, such as Binh Dinh town cooperative and Tam Quan Bac agricultural cooperative. Cooperatives strictly follow the Law on Cooperatives and their regulations.

Statistics showed that the planned figures have positively increased after the Law on Cooperatives was in effect in 2003.

Some figures have seen annual increases, like the total turnover with a 30 percent increase or charter capital with a surge of 10 percent.

Cooperatives also join social activities, including the gratitude showing movement, houses for beneficiaries, and fund for the poor.

But the province’s collective economy sector still faces many issues. What are the main difficulties?

The province’s collective economy still has many difficulties requiring considerable concern from functional bodies.

Most cooperatives are facing difficulties in capital, technologies, and market. Many, meanwhile, have low working capital or no property as security for the loan.

The debt of irrigation fee is another issue. The qualification of the managerial staff is also a shortcoming.

How will the difficulties be resolved?

A supporting fund needs setting up, aiming to help cooperatives take out bank loans for production. Provincial bodies and localities are also required to aid cooperatives to benefit from the stimulus package.

More training courses should be provided for the managerial staff of cooperatives, aiming to improve their qualifications.
