A power centre will be built in Phu Cat district, central Binh Dinh province at an estimated cost of 7.5 billion USD.

A plan to build the centre has been finalised by the Power Engineering Consultancy Company No. 4 (PECC 4) under the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for submission to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Accordingly, the 250ha and 5,200MW centre will cover three power plants, expected to start operation between 2016-2021.

It will help replace large-scale combined gas- turbine power plants in the central and southern regions.
According to PECC 4, the project will use coal imported from Australia or Indonesia as well as the latest and environment-friendly technologies.
