Binh Dinh Aquiculture Association held the congress for the 2009-2013 period. It has greatly contributed to the development of fish farming in Binh Dinh in the past five years.

Coordination for development

The province’s Aquiculture Association was founded in 1997, merging Binh Dinh Fish Farming Association with Binh Dinh Aquaculture Association.

To sustainably develop the fish farming, fishermen are required to coordinate with each other to improve the quality, cut down the expenses and price, aiming to enhance the competitiveness, said Chairman of Binh Dinh Aquiculture Association Tran Van Lang.

The province’s Aquiculture Association plays a core role as a bridge for the cooperation, he added.

The association has renewed its operation, improving the effectiveness of its affiliates. The association has helped its members develop the production. Its newly-established affiliates, including fish sauce association and tuna association, also proved their effective operation.

Its members were well instructed to follow regulations and orientation. What’s more, they had chances to join training courses on the application of advanced technologies, epidemic and flood prevention.

The association coordinated with functional bodies to encourage fishermen to use advanced technologies in production, aiming to improve the capacity and quality.

It has contributed to develop the offshore fishing, making the aquaculture industry become popular. The “Binh Dinh fish sauce” brand name is well known partly thanks to the assist of the association.

Despite some drawbacks, the province’s aquiculture association has gradually promoted the development of fish farming in the central province of Binh Dinh.

New course of action

Experiencing achievements and challenges in the past five years, the association has strived to strengthen its operation in the coming time, according to Lang.

It will continue playing as a bridge for the cooperation and community management in production. The association will also focus on using technological advances in production, helping the province’s aquiculture industry overcome difficulties.

The association is expected to become an important body, playing a reliable support for fishermen, contributing to the sustainable development of fish farming, and developing the sea economy under the Party and State’s policies.

Its affiliates will also be improved and their operation needs changing, focusing on the effectiveness.
