A brief description of Quy Hoa eco-tourism and sports complex

Why did Son My Co., Ltd, the project owner, invite you to join the project?
Before working as the chief of high-achievement sports department, I had worked as a teacher at University of Sports and Physical Training.
I have 40-year experiences in the field of high-achievement sports. The company director, therefore, invited me to work as a consultant for the project.
At present, I retire, but I’m really happy to contribute my experiences to the project.
The establishment of a martial arts academy in the central province of Binh Dinh, known as the land of martial arts, is the pride of not only local residents but Vietnamese people when Tay Son martial arts have become popular in many countries.
The international festival of traditional martial arts was successfully held twice in Binh Dinh with the participation of many martial arts learners and Masters worldwide. This could be considered as the foundation for the establishment of the project, in which Tay Son Binh Dinh martial arts academy will play a core role.
Joining the project, I’ll be responsible for building training program and recruiting coaches and students.
What do you expect from the project?
The project is a so-called sport socialization model, which is now an indispensable trend in many countries. The sport socialization has, for example, made China become a sports power.
Many said Vietnam’s traditional martial arts, including Tay Son martial arts, should be involved in the school curriculum. The establishment of martial arts academy in Binh Dinh is expected to make the idea come true.
I devoted my life to sports; thus, I wish to do something to help sports develop. Vietnam traditional martial arts federation was set up and the international vovinam federation was also founded in 2008.
However, when I visited France in 2000, France’s Minister of Sports said Vietnam should soon establish the international vovinam federation to popularize vovinam around the world.
It took 30 years for China to popularize wushu in the world. Vovinam has been well known in 70 countries. It’s necessary, therefore, to set up martial arts academies to study and train martial arts.
I still remember former PM Vo Van Kiet said traditional sports need focusing on, alongside contemporary ones.
Seriously, we made some mistakes in developing sports to an extent. The quintessence of traditional martial arts and sports was once consigned to oblivion.
Do you think the establishment of Tay Son Binh Dinh martial art academy, a part of the project, is feasible?
The biggest difficulty is that ministries may not understand the feasibility and potential of the project. The project owner must prepare the proposal carefully to persuade ministries and province’s leaders.
How will martial arts be taught and trained? What will be included in the curriculum? And who are martial arts trainers? These issues have to be clearly resolved.
We have received the support from lecturers and martial arts trainers nationwide so far. We are also able to build a training program. After being licensed, the academy will be able to recruit students next year.
