A panorama of Dinh Binh water reservoir |
The construction of Van Phong water supply sytem was kicked off and Dinh Binh water reservoir was inaugurated today (June 22) in the central province of Binh Dinh.
The province’s biggest water reservoir
After being built for more than five years, Dinh Binh water reservoir, the province’s biggest irrigation work, is now in full operation.
Dinh Binh water reservoir was built across the Con River, in Vinh Hao commune, Vinh Thanh District.
With the capacity of 226 million cubic meters, the work aims to provide water for over 28000 hectares of fields and alternative demands, prevent different types of floods, and combine to generate electricity with the capacity of 6.60 MW.
Dinh Binh retaining dam is one of the first dams using Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) technology nationwide. All procedures were, therefore, closely monitored, aiming to guarantee the quality of the work.
The construction of Dinh Binh water reservoir has been finished. The trial run proved its effective operation.
Also, during the construction, the water reservoir had partly helped prevent small flood, provide water for agricultural production and aquaculture, and generate electricity.
Dinh Binh water reservoir is expected to contribute to the eco-system protection and the province’s socio-economic development.
Van Phong water supply system kicked off
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ratified the Van Phong water supply system project on Sep. 28, 2007.
The project aims to offer water to agricultural production, improve the people’s lives, and protect the eco environment.
The system will water 12,545 hectares of cultivated land, including Van Phong, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Hiep, and Ha Thanh.
Also, it will provide water for the people’s daily life and breeding and help improve the environment in surrounding areas.
Van Phong dam is located on the Con River, 30 km from Dinh Binh water reservoir to the lower course.
