A 5-year (2006-2010) review of the agriculture and fisheries promotion model in Binh Dinh was held on October 12.

Accordingly, the total expenses for the agriculture and fisheries promotion has reached over VND17.3 billion in the past five years, in which VND6.8 billion was from the Central budget, nearly VND7.5 billion was from local budget and the national target programmes financed over VND3 billion.

The relevant bodies, thus, were able to carry out trials and selections of high yielding varieties for practical application of production. The programs of cultivated crop structure change and application of cross-bred rice varieties reaped positive results, partly increasing the production capacity and contributing to the hunger eradication and poverty alleviation for the farmers.

The agriculture and fisheries promotion will continue focusing on target cultivated plants, domestic animals and spearhead industries of the province. Areas of specialized goods production are expected to be formed step by step. Community participatory models of the agricultural and fishery expansion encouragement with low risks, environmental protection orientation and high economic effect for the target beneficiary communities and households should be built, too.
