More and more people have travelled by air to Binh Dinh since early this year. Head of Vietnam Airlines (VNA)’s representative office in Binh Dinh, Nguyen Van Thanh, talks more about the issue.

Could you reveal the result of the air transport in Binh Dinh since early 2010?

The operation of the air direct routes between Ha Noi and Quy Nhon as well as HCMC and Quy Nhon has been stable, contributing to the province’s socio-economic development.

Statistics showed that 117,964 passengers travelled by air on the two routes in the first nine months of 2010, an increase of 37 percent compared to the same period last year. All flights ensure absolute safety.

The number of passengers travelling on the HCMC-Quy Nhon route is always high while the Ha Noi-Quy Nhon route often attracts many passengers from April to August. Most are tourists.

VNA opened more three flights a week to meet the increasing demand for travelling on the HCMC-Quy Nhon route since April; whilst, the Ha Noi and Quy Nhon route also offers 6 flights a week.

Thanks to the increase of flights, more and more tourists have come to Binh Dinh in the past months and many workshops were held in Quy Nhon.

Does VNA decide to open more flights for the HCMC-Quy Nhon route to meet the higher demand?

In its winter flight schedule, the Ha Noi-Quy Nhon route sees 6 flights per week from October 31. There will be one more flight for the HCMC-Quy Nhon route. This means that passengers will be able to travel on the HCMC-Quy Nhon route in the afternoon on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

The winter flight schedule is very convenient for tourists coming to Quy Nhon, meeting the demand of tour operators.

Is it easy for passengers to buy air tickets? How about the air ticket booking for the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) festival?

Passengers are now able to buy air tickets at any VNA’s agents nationwide or book the tickets via Internet.

At present, the number of air tickets for HCMC-Quy Nhon route (from the 20th day of the first lunar month) and Quy Nhon-HCMC route (in the first lunar month) has been sold out.

VNA planned to increase more flights and continue to sell the tickets for the Tet holiday in late October. Passengers who want to book air tickets could contact with VNA’s booking offices.

How does VNA’s representative office in Binh Dinh plan to develop air routes to Binh Dinh?

The HCMC-Quy Nhon route is one of four “hot” routes as the demand is always high. We are asking VNA to replace A320 planes with A321 ones, aiming to meet the demand for seating capacity and flight increase.

The HCMC-Quy Nhon route is expected to operate both in the morning and afternoon whilst Ha Noi-Quy Nhon route will see 7 flights per week next year.
