The Binh Dinh People’s Committee has just permitted the Hanh Tinh Xanh (Green Planet) Trading and Development Investment Joint-Stock Company to cooperate with Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the provincial forestry companies in drawing out a plan of a forest preservation and development in combination with forest carbon exploitation.
This is an activity of forest environment services as regulated in the Decree 99/2010/ NĐ-CP dated on September 24, 2010 by Prime Minister.
The forest environmental services are the work of supplying the use values of forest environment to meet the needs of society and people.
The services include soil protection, reduction of erosion and sedimentation of reservoirs, rivers and streams, regulation and maintenance of water resources for production and living activities of the society, forest carbon sequestration and retention, reduction of emissions of green house gases through measures for preventing forest degration and loss of forest areas and for forest sustainable development, protection of natural landscape and conservation of biodiversity of forest ecosystems for tourism services, provision of spawning grounds, sources of feeds, and natural seeds, use of water from forest for aquaculture.
The forest environment comprises the components of the forest ecosystem: plants, animals, micro-organisms, water, soil, air, natural landscape.
For social and human needs, forest environment has usage values, referred to as use values of forest environment, including: soil protection, water regulation, headwaters protection, coastal protection, disaster prevention and mitigation, biodiversity, carbon sequestration and retention, tourism, habitat and spawning ground of organisms, timber and other forest products.
