Binh Dinh People’s Committee on November 16 issued a document directing concentration on overcoming aftermath of the latest flood.
Accordingly, the chairman of the provincial People’s Committee ordered chairpersons of People’s Committees at district and city levels to promptly direct the surveys, evaluation and reports about damages caused by the flood; draw out experiences from last guidance on how to deal with the flood as in the approved flood control and response. The localities where there were human losses had to seriously sum up the experiences and send reports to the provincial People’s Committee and Binh Dinh Committee for Flood and Storm Control - Search and Recue before November 22.
The chairman of the provincial People’s Committee directed to harvest all produces, forest products, aquatic products so that to minimize the potential damages caused by any possible flood. All available resources should be gathered to efficiently overcome aftermaths of the latest flood earlier this month. Surveys of the flood damage and situations of the flood victims should be done with aim to provide timely aid to people who were in urgent need, ensuring no one suffer from hunger, thirst and coldness, homelessness.
The chair persons of People’s Committees at district and city levels, the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs had to check and ensure right relief supplies to right families at right amount like in 2009 (except aids to those suffering house losses); do surveys and suggest size of human force mobilization for the house repair, making reports to the provincial People’s Committee; check and reinforce, timely repair potential breakdowns of reservoirs, dykes, transportation works, etc.
Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development had to guide relevant localities and agencies in charge of managing the reservoirs and the dykes to monitor the works so that any potential breakdowns would be early identified and promptly repaired. Director of the provincial Department of Health had to follow up the post-flood diseases, ensuring enough medicines in reserve to allocate to people in flood-hit areas, instructing them how to perform post-flood decontamination, clean water purification, practices of hygiene as epidemic prevention. Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs had to collaborate with the People’s Committees at district and city levels in guiding the surveys on collapsed housed, severely damaged houses, sunken ships and boats, etc., families suffering from food losses and hunger. They then would propose plans to provide relief for the victims. Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training had to cooperate with the People’s Committees at district and city levels in directing the surveys on school damages, speeding up the post-flood clean-up and repairs for quick restoration of school activities.
The chairman of the provincial People’s Committee also asked the chair persons of the People’s Committees at district and city levels, the leaders of bodies and agencies to keep on their close watch on the weather changes during the rest of this stormy season, ready to respond efficiently to the natural disasters as in the approved scenarios.
