The Binh Dinh’s E-woodwork trading floor (www.binhdinhwood.com) opened, expected to make the province become one of “woodwork hubs” nationwide. Director of Binh Dinh Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kim Phuong talks more about the issue.
Could you brief us on the e-woodwork trading floor in Binh Dinh?
Binh Dinh has become one of 4 woodwork hubs nationwide. Annually, the province’s industrial production value of the wood processing sector accounts for over 40 percent of the total industrial production value and its export turnover value makes up more than 60 percent of the province’s total export turnover value.
However, the operation of woodwork exporters hasn’t really been sustainable due to the shortcomings in the information about market, prices, and trade promotion.
Most wood processing companies, for example, often produce wooden furniture which is labeled with “brand names” of their partners or foreign companies. This is really affecting the origin of wooden products “made in Binh Dinh”.
The functional bodies were asked to work out measures, aiming to help wood businesses boost their operation. An e-woodwork trading floor was built, assisting wood processing companies in exchanging information, developing the trade name of Binh Dinh’s wooden products, and offering an online channel for the woodwork transaction.
How about the establishment of the trading floor?
The Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with relevant bodies to build the Binh Dinh’s e-woodwork trading floor since March.
Initially, the trading floor is aimed to provide the information for the province’s wood processing sector and connect woodwork businesses with each other.
The floor is expected to expand its scale nationwide, helping woodwork exporters link to manufacturers and consumers worldwide.
Could you let us know more about the advantages of the trading floor?
All businesses and consumers could find the information about wooden products listed in categories or groups via the website. They are able to access the list of woodwork businesses and register to receive our news bulletins through their emails.
What’s more, any consumers could create an account to buy our products and use different online payment methods for their purchase.
Wood processing companies may also use their accounts to upload the information about their products on the trading floor. The floor offers both wholesale and retail businesses for export, import, and domestic markets.
About 40 local businesses registered to join the e-trading floor. The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam’s Phu Tai branch vowed to offer the payment methods for the online purchase on the floor, meeting different demands.
What must be done to make the trading floor become more effective?
We are fully aware that building such a trading floor is really hard and it’s more difficult to make it operate effectively. We’ll, thus, cooperate with functional bodies and participating businesses to improve the website.
Some workshops on the advantages and goals of the e-trading floor will be held next year, helping businesses’ leaders and marketing staff thoroughly understand the importance of the e-trading floor.
We also planned to open the “Supporting businesses in building online brand name” programme, aiming to help businesses take full advantage of e-trading floor.
Two training courses on e-commerce are expected to be held in the first quarter next year. Also, businesses will be assisted in creating an account at the Vietnam E-Commerce Portal (www.ecvn.com).
