Binh Dinh’s tourism should make difference

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has organized a journey through six southern central provinces, from Khanh Hoa to Da Nang. Binh Dinh Newspaper’s Ngoc Tu has a talk with Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, deputy head of the VNAT Marketing Department when they visit Binh Dinh.

The participants of the journey visit Quang Trung museum

What is the purpose of the journey?

The journey is aimed at propagating the tourism capacity of 6 southern central provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, and Da Nang, attracting more tourists to visit these destinations. This is one of events preparing for the National Tourism Year hosted by Phu Yen province next year.

Apart from VNAT’s staff, 15 representatives of central and local news agencies also joined the journey. Their articles featuring attractive tourism destinations will be published after the journey, helping readers nationwide know more about the southern central provinces.

Many reporters coming from above-mentioned provinces participated in the event, aiming to attract more local visitors. The number of foreign tourists and those who come from HCM City or Ha Noi has gradually increased in recent years, according to the statistics released by tour operators.

During the journey, we visited some main destinations of each province, including coastal resorts, entertainment facilities, cultural and historical relics. Also, we greatly focused on their unique features. Coming to Binh Dinh, for example, we visit the Quang Trung Museum, Ghenh Rang, the Thi Nai Bridge, and enjoy performances of martial arts music.

Some said that southern central provinces share the similarities in geographical locations and cultural features; thus, they should link together. Do you think so?

Six above-mentioned provinces and cities are located along the sea and have long and beautiful beaches which are great advantages for the development of sea and island tourism.

Many coastal luxury resorts have being built in these provinces, but it’s necessary to pay more attention to distinctive features, aiming to make a difference. Six southern central provinces, for instance, have luxury resorts; however, traditional martial arts and Tay Son martial arts music could only be found in Binh Dinh.

Linking together for development is essential, but I’m afraid that it will be less effective if resorts are combined together as they share some similarities.

These provinces should build tourism routes focusing on their distinctive features, such as tours to explore the Cham culture, tours to follow the Emperor Quang Trung’s historical traces.

What do you think about tourism activities in Binh Dinh?

Coming to Binh Dinh, we visited the Quang Trung Museum and enjoyed the performances of martial arts music and Binh Dinh traditional martial arts. We then toured Ghenh Rang, the tomb of Han Mac Tu, and Thi Nai Bridge, the longest sea-crossing one in Vietnam. These are very unique features in Binh Dinh.

This has been my third visit to Binh Dinh and I saw many changes. The Quang Trumg Museum, for example, was re-decorated and its tour guide showed better presentation skills. The martial arts music performance also left good impression on the visitors. However, I still wondered if it’s essential to combine some Bana dancing performances with martial arts shows.

To help visitors easily understand the Tay Son dynasty, easy-to-understand stories about it should be created. If possible, a projection room should be built, featuring daily activities in the past.

Binh Dinh martial arts is very famous, but tourism services using martial arts features haven’t proved effective. The province’s authorities should build a program, helping tourists visit some martial arts clubs and meet martial arts masters. Also, they could instruct tourists who want to practice Binh Dinh martial arts to learn some easy techniques.

Binh Dinh has great potential for tourism. It needs, thus, to take full advantage of tourism to make a difference. Alongside this, better infrastructure and good services will play an important role.
