35 years after the Liberation Day (March 31, 1975-2010), Quy Nhon was recognized as the first-grade city administered to Binh Dinh Province. It has gradually become one of the hubs in the central key economic region thanks to its potential and advantages.

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Quy Nhon city’s liberation day, the PM’s decision on recognizing Quy Nhon as the first-grade city administered to Binh Dinh Province was announced. In fact, the city has undergone massive changes recently since it was liberated, enhancing its position in the central region.

A modern city has been formed with the establishment of the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone in 2005 and Thi Nai Port in 2006.

The 1,200-ha-Nhon Hoi EZ attracted 28 projects, including 5 FDI ones until 2009. It is comprised of non-tariff zone, industrial zone, ports, services, tourism areas, and new urban areas.

The Nhon Hoi EZ is expected to create jobs for scores of local people and offer the labor resources. It will also promote Binh Dinh during its industrialization and modernization process, helping the province expand markets, attract investment, and improve the management capacity.

Towards the target of a central urban in the central region and Central Highlands, some key tasks are now being implemented. Alongside existing industrial zones and EZ, the construction of Bui Thi Xuan industrial cluster and Phu Tai and Long My IZs will be carried out.

Also, the traffic system connecting the centre with new areas is now being built, contributing to the province’s socio-economic development.

In 1986, Quy Nhon town was extended, becoming a city. It was then recognized as the second-grade city 12 years later. Quy Nhon now becomes a first-grade city after the PM’s Decision was promulgated on January 25, 2010.

It’s time for Quy Nhon to reach a new height – a central urban in the Central key economic region.
