Businesses face many difficulties

At the meeting, Director of Binh Dinh Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kim Phuong presented a report evaluating the operation of businesses in 2009 and the first quarter this year.

Accordingly, businesses met some challenges due to the global financial crisis and economic recession in 2009, but they have regained considerable growth in the first quarter this year.

During the 2010’s first quarter, the industrial production value saw an increase of 11.7 percent and the export turnover reached over 118 million USD.

Participants also talked about measures to resolve problems and promote their production. Many businesses said they found it difficult to take out bank loans.

Alongside this, prices of many kinds of materials and services have sharply increased, causing difficulties for their operation, let alone the slow progress of the infrastructure construction and frequent power cut.

Resolving problems together

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province Nguyen Van Thien acknowledged the businesses’ suggestions, affirming that resolving difficulties for businesses is a high priority.

Thien steered banks to create preferential conditions for businesses to take out loans. He also asked functional bodies to strengthen the land clearance and infrastructure construction. The electricity sector was required to minimize the power cuts in industrial zones.

At the meeting, functional bodies pledged to help businesses boost their operation. The representatives of commercial banks said they would try to assist businesses in getting bank loans.

Chairman Thien also asked businesses to re-organize their operation, aimed at reducing the production expenses and enhancing the competitiveness.

Businesses must inform functional bodies about any difficulties they met as soon as possible, helping them promptly resolve problems, Thien said.

He emphasized that Binh Dinh People’s Committee always give businesses special attention to help them overcome difficulties, contributing to the province’s socio-economic development.
