Buffet breakfast is served in most two-or three-star hotels in Quy Nhon, firstly targeting at guests living in the hotels. Some hotels, such as Quy Nhon, Hai Au, Hoang Yen, Sai Gon-Quy Nhon, often serve buffet breakfast from 6am to 9am with different prices, ranging from VND30,000 to VND60,000 each.
“With three kinds of Western-styled food, water and hot dishes, and made-in-Vietnam cakes, the menus are not the same within 10 days. Basing on the guests’ nationalities, the menus are always adjusted; and special food of each country will be served to groups of guests who share the same nationality,” said Nguyen Hoang Vu, chief of the Sai Gon-Quy Nhon Hotel’s cuisine division.
Hai Au Hotel serves an average of 100 guests each day, particularly 150-200 guests at weekend or on holiday, with a menu including 50 types of dishes, beverages and dessert.
“Serving buffet for many years, we realize that Quy Nhon people’s taste is changing. They pay more attention to health protection and eat more vegetables. The buffet breakfast also sees varied customers,” said Le Hong Quang who is in charge of the hotel-restaurant division at Hau Au hotel.
The Feeling Restaurant-Café 2 (Felling II) also opened buffet dinner from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday. The Feeling II serves 30 items of food, beverages and dessert with VND70,000 for an adult and VND35,000 for a child.
“VND70,000 is fairly high, but that is main meal. We serve less western-styled food. Most of our food is served for Vietnamese and varies according to each season. Customers could choose to enjoy our buffet dinner if they feel satisfy with a day’s menu which is written on the board in front of the restaurant’s entrance”, said Nguyen Thuc Ky, the restaurant’s boss.
Buffet service is still not popular in Quy Nhon as guests are mainly tourists, entrepreneurs, and well-off families. Those who have average income usually use buffet service with curiosity.
“In Quy Nhon, buffet is only one of services at hotels. It hasn’t become a kind of business so far. The service providers should lower the price and organize in public areas to make it more popular,” said a guest Nguyen Dinh Thanh.
Buffet is meal at a party or other occasion, in which people serve themselves at a table and then move away to eat. Its advantage is to serve a large amount of people and time is also more flexible. The buffet creates convenient opportunities for people to be in touch with each other. Guests only pay a fixed cost and they could enjoy various dishes. |
