Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Ho Quoc Dung went on an inspection tour about the implementation of the sub-project on La Tinh irrigation work on September 8.

The sub-project has been carried out in 9 communes of districts of Phu Cat and Phu My with the total capital of VND355 billion, including the loan from the Asia Development Bank (ADB) and the province’s reciprocal capital.

The main components of the project are comprised of the improvement and new establishment of irrigation canals (96.2km) and irrigation works in reinforcement-oriented manner; upgrading on 25km of dikes at lower section of La Tinh River; repair and new building of the two dams of Cay Gai and Cay Ke; reinforcement and anti-leakage measures for earth dam of Hoi Son Reservoir.

3.300 ha of rice fields and 300ha of aquatic habitats are expected to be irrigated, flood-caused damages and losses will lessen, livelihood of 30.000 people and 1,427 ha of cultivated land will be secured when the sub-project finishes.

The sub-project started in 2007 and 51 percent of its workload has been handled so far with the total value of VND120 billion.

Provincial Vice Chairman Ho Quoc Dung recognized the contractors’ efforts. Yet, he noted that some were inactive and didn’t meet the target rate of progress. The contractors were reminded to speed up the progress for sake of the irrigation work’s flood test withstanding. All of the works had to successfully stand the flood-control tests before the deadline of September 15. Relevant authorities had to closely cooperate with the contractors to timely solve problems for sake of smooth construction.
