Endangered sea turtles are in deadly need of protection

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoNRE) and Binh Dinh’s DoNRE jointly organized a training course on the sea turtle conservation, protection and rescue on Sept.20.

Fishermen in 6 coastal communes of Phu Cat and Phu My districts joined the course.

The course aimed to raise their awareness of the sea turtle protection and restriction of the sea turtle hunting practices.

The sea turtle experts provided the participants with the information about the importance of the sea turtles, legal documents on the conservation of the marine species, its biological characteristics as well as how to distinguish different kinds of the sea turtles.

Binh Dinh waters see a large number of sea turtles. They had once laid eggs on beaches of Cat Khanh commune and Hon Kho Island. This proved the sea turtles have become more and more adaptive and lived well at the Binh Dinh’s marine habitat.
