Speaking at the ceremony, provincial Chairman Le Huu Loc emphasized that Binh Dinh is one of wood furniture hubs nationwide. It is the home of 150 wood processing companies with the total capacity of more than 35,000 cubic meters of timber per year. Their industrial production and export turnover values account for 40 percent and 60 percent of the province’s total value respectively.

The local wood furniture is exported in 150 countries and territories, he added. The wood processing sector is, thus, expected to become a spearhead industry with high competitiveness. It will be sustainably developed.

The forest product festival taking place for the first time will offer opportunities for domestic and international oganisations to develop long-term cooperation and investment and honour scientists, entrepreneurs, managers and people who have firmly promoted and contributed to the country's forestry sector.

Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan also affirmed that the festival is one of the events of national magnitude. It will promote the role and potential of Vietnam’s forestry sector.

A model of visual road themed “Vietnam’s forest products on the way of international integration” was also carried out. It included visual samples of forest products, environment, nature, wild animals, wood furniture, and fine art works.

The festival is scheduled to last until March 28.
