The Nhon Hoi Economic Zone (EZ) was officially set up in June, 2005, covering a total area of 12,000 hectares in the Phuong Mai peninsula located in the northeast of Quy Nhon city.
The EZ is aimed at becoming an urban, industry, services, and tourism centre of the central key economic region. It has attracted 33 projects worth VND32.54 billion, including 7 FDI ones with the total capital of US$495.72 million.
The Nhon Hoi EZ now sees many roads running through different functional zones built around the EZ. Many projects have being implemented here.
The EZ construction showed the province’s strong determination, according to Nguyen Ngoc Toan, deputy head of the EZ management board. Difficulties in planning, land acquisition, and resettlement were resolved to attract more projects.
The industrial parks (IP) A, B, C, the non-tariff area, seaport, bonded warehouse, resettlement areas and other tourism projects were almost planned, he added.
The land clearance has been carried out, offering investors the most favourable conditions to implement their projects, including Trung Luong, Vinh Hoi, and Hai Giang tourism projects, and other IPs.
The EZ is set the target of attracting VND40 trillion in the next five years. Compared to the province’s industrial production and export turnover value, its figures will account for 20 percent and 10 percent respectively 2015.
Also, 10,000 jobs will be generated to local people.
The relevant bodies will focus on the construction of key technical infrastructure, policies for compensation and resettlement, support for projects, administration reform, and administrative units at the EZ.
The Nhon Hoi EZ is expected to strongly develop, deserving to be one of the hubs in the central key economic region.
