An opening ceremony of a new air route between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon city was co-organized by Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee and the Mekong Aviation JSC (Air Mekong) at Phu Cat Airport on June 1. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), Auditor General of the State Audit; Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, CPVCC member, Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee and Mr. Doan Quoc Viet, Air Mekong’s Director Board Chairman and CEO.
Air Mekong conducts one flight a day on the route, using Bombardier CRJ 900 aircrafts. Flights depart at 8h40’ from Ho Chi Minh City and at 10h15’ from Phu Cat Airport with duration of one hour. Price of economy class is from 650.000 VND to 1 million VND, excluding taxes and other additional fees).
Since June 1, there have been so far two carriers who launched Ho Chi Minh city– Quy Nhon air services: Vietnam Airlines and Air Mekong. The Air Mekong’s new route offer new chances to boost socio-economic development of Binh Dinh and other neigbouring provinces in the central key economic region.
On the very first day of opening the new route, Air Mekong offered free-of-charge tickets for customers under 12 years old. The carrier also collaborates with Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam and Quy Nhon-based 4-star Royal Resort in special offers up to 50% off room rate at the resort for customers using the new air service from June 1 to July 31, 2011.
