The high-quality Vietnamese product fair was held for the first time in HCM City in 1997, aiming to implement the “high-quality Vietnamese products” promotion program. The 7th event is now taking place in Quy Nhon city, contributing to honor Vietnamese products and uphold the national pride. Chairwoman of High-Quality Vietnamese Products Business Association Vu Kim Hanh talks more about the issue.

Could you brief us on the initial stage of the “High-quality Vietnamese product” program?
When I still worked at the Sai Gon Tiep Thi newspaper in 1995, my colleagues and I planned to give birth to a new publication providing the information about market, prices for consumers. We named it Sai Gon Tiep Thi which has been welcomed by scores of readers.
As soon as the newspaper got published, it focused on helping the consumers pay attention to Vietnamese products. Many readers then asked us to show them what are high-quality Vietnamese products. It was difficult to answer the question at that time as high-quality Vietnamese goods was quite rare.
We made a survey to find out which Vietnamese goods got the consumers’ trust and many readers assisted us in evaluating the quality of Vietnamese goods. Gradually, we have a list of Vietnamese businesses whose products are highly valued.
We decided to organize the first high-quality Vietnamese product fair in HCM City in 1997 and the event has further developed since then.
What are the differences between this event and other commercial fairs?
We see five differences. The high-quality Vietnamese product fair is a cooperation program between HCM City and other provinces and cities. Only enterprises winning the “High-quality Vietnamese products” title are allowed to join the event.
In addition, it also focuses on a “professional promotion” fair in which participating businesses are able to promote their products and expand their distribution networks. The fair also calls on the coordination with the mass media, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese products.
The last difference is that the sponsorship from enterprises is used for the consumers and the operation of the organizing board, not for business purposes.
Could you reveal the landmarks of high-quality Vietnamese product fair in the past years?
The fair has more and more developed in the past 15 years. In 1997, the “high-quality Vietnamese products” program was set up. In 2001, the high-quality Vietnamese product business club was established. In 2002, the trademark construction project kicked off and the high-quality Vietnamese product business association was officially set up.
Although this is a HCM City’s program, it was fully supported by the Central Party, government, Central bodies, as well as provinces and cities nationwide. The program and the fair have contributed to honor Vietnamese products and uphold the national pride.
What do you think about the fairs held in Binh Dinh?
When we intended to organize the high-quality Vietnamese product fair in Binh Dinh 7 years ago, former Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Vu Hoang Ha saw me in Ha Noi and he asked me to open a fair in Binh Dinh by all means.
We decided to bring the fair to Binh Dinh in 2003 and this year’s fair is the 7th event.
Many businesses highly value the Binh Dinh’s market when joining the fair held here. Compared to other central provinces, Binh Dinh sees advantages in trade and distribution network. I now feel familiar to Quy Nhon whenever coming here.
