Wild boar breeding has brought high economic values to Binh Dinh farmers in recent years. Most of the wild boar breeders are awarded certificates of origin by authorities to facilitate their product sales.
Binh Dinh Centre for Agriculture and Fisheries Development has set up 10 sites of experimental wild boar breeding all over the province. The program aims to transfer technologies of the wild boar breeding to the farmers, ensuring easy selling with high benefits.
Binh Dinh now has more than 100 family-scale breeders whose total number of wild boars reaches over 1.500, says statistics of the centre. Hoai An district has 11 breeders with 321 boars; Hoai Nhon district has 10 breeders with 182 animals; Quy Nhon city has 10 breeders with 350 boars; An Nhon district has 2 breeders with 200 animals…
Wild boar breeding isn’t energy consuming because the animals resist diseases well and require simple diet with more raw food than pure food. Any vast place is suitable to build up a wild boar farm.
An Lao district helped 40 farmers in breeding wild boars; each farmer bred 2 animals. Herds of some farmers are now expanding to 6-12 animals. The district government expects to extend the model of cross-bred wild boar raising more.
Vinh Thanh district has 4 farm-scale breeders with 20-40 wild boar/farm. The local government is assisting 60 farmers in their wild boar breeding.
Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is doing a research on the wild boar breeding. The research is expected to be tested soon and the wild boar breeding will be a part of the provincial husbandry structure in near future.
