A workshop on model of “white-leg fresh shrimp farming on sandy and high salinity soils” has just been co-organized by Binh Dinh Centre for Agriculture and Aquaculture Promotion and Phu My district Station of Agriculture at Xuan Binh hamlet, My An commune, Phu My district.
The model aims to deal with problems of existing shrimp diseases, environmental pollution, excessive exploitation of underground water resource for the sand shrimp farming at Phu My.
The model also aims to offer the shrimp breeders opportunities of accessing and learning techniques of shrimp farming without using fresh water. T
he centre transferred the technology to the station and the model was implemented at 2 hamlets of Xuan Binh and Xuan Thanh Nam, over an area of 3,000m2 each site. The shrimp, after 85 days of raising, reached average output of 8.4 tonnes/hectare, offered more than 471-million-VND worth gross income, over 138-million-VND worth net income.
At the workshop, participants all agreed that the model brought high economic value, helped to limit the underground exploitation and protect the locality’s ecological environment.
Binh Dinh Centre for Agriculture and Aquaculture will expand the model in coming future.
