A ceremony was held in An Nhon town on January 1, 2012, announcing the PM’s Decision No. 101/NQ-CP dated on November 28, 2011 on the establishment of An Nhon town.

Attending were the former Vice Chairman of the NA Office Tran Quoc Thuan, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Thien, former provincial Party Chief Vu Hoang Ha, permanent Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Tung, provincial Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee Le Huu Loc, representatives of the Provincial Standing Committee, People’s Council Office, People's Committee as well as officers and people in An Nhon town.
The town which covers an area of 24,264.36 hectares and its population is 178,817 people, including five inner wards (Binh Dinh, Nhon Hoa, Nhon Hung, Dap Da, Nhon Thanh) and 10 communes (Nhon An, Nhon Phong, Nhon Hanh, Nhon Hau, Nhon My, Nhon Khanh, Nhon Phuc, Nhon Loc, Nhon Tan, Nhon Tho).
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, the town’s Chairman Le Trong Tung reviewed the historical breakthroughs during the anti-French and anti-American resistance wars.
After the liberation, An Nhon’s Party Committee and People unitedly overcomed difficulties and made it become a well-being town.
Speaking at the ceremony, provincial Chairman Le Huu Loc said the PM’s decision on the establishment of An Nhon town that is directly under Binh Dinh province plays an important role and marked a new step towards the An Nhon district’s socio-economic development.
He also urged its leadership to promtly stabilize the management system, speeding up its socio-economic development, maintaining security and defence, and creating jobs for its people.
The town should be a main driving force, promoting the socio-economic situation in southern districts of the province and contributing to the province’s development.
