The opening ceremony of Phuong Mai Wind Power Plant No.1 on Phuong Mai Peninsula

The construction of wind power plant began in Cat Chanh commune of Phu Cat district in Binh Dinh Province yesterday (April 3).

The 30 MW plant worth 1.2 trillion VND (roughly 60.25 million USD) will be invested by Phuong Mai Wind Power JSC.

The power plant, covering 143ha, is expected to finish in April, 2013.

With an average wind speed of 12 metres per second, the 12-turbine plant will be able to generate 82 million kWh per year.

Investors in the wind-power plant have signed a contract to sell electricity to national power utility Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) for VND1,600 per kWh.

To utilise its great potential for production of clean energy, Binh Dinh Province has set aside 283ha of land in Nhon Hoi IP for wind-power projects, including the Phuong Mai Wind Power Plant No. 1
