Work on concreting a rural road in Phuoc Son commune of Tuy Phuoc district. |
The rural areas in Binh Dinh have a total of 3,818 kilometers of roads, according to the Department of Transport. Amongst them, about 2,262 kilometers have been concreted, accounting for 59.2 percent of available roads.
Thanks to this, the traffic tie-up has basically been put an end in rural areas, particularly in the rainy season. The traffic convenience also contributes to the socio-economic development in all localities across the province.
However, the implementation of rural road concreting program was considered disproportionate in different localities. In some mountainous areas, for example, the progress was quite slow, making the result of the program fall short of expectations.
Provincial People’s Committee held a meeting on implementing the program in 2012 and plan by 2015. The meeting set the target of 174.39 kilometers of road being concreted this year while a total of 1,000 kilometers are expected to be finished by 2015.
The program mainly focuses on road connecting communes in Binh Dinh. The province’s budget will support 167 tons of cement for one kilometer on each road. The rest will be mobilized from different sources.
Provincial Vice Chairman emphasized the importance of the program in creating favourable conditions for the socio-economic development in rural areas; thus, he assigned relevant bodies to fulfill the task as planned.
