BISUCO has adjusted the policy in collecting sugar cane, meeting the farmers’ demand. It offered insurance worth 750.000 VND per ton, 200.000 VND higher than previous year, to ensure the benefit for sugar cane growers.
Depending on the reality, BISUCO will collect sugar cane with a reasonable price which is always higher than 750.000 VND.
During this crop, the company paid a total of 980.000 VND per ton of sugar cane when collecting at sugar cane areas; meanwhile, the average price was 1.1 million VND per ton when farmers sold sugar cane at the mill. At the end of the crop, BISUCO increased 20.000 VND per ton.
The sugar cane collection also created favourable conditions for farmers, avoiding bad effects on the quality of sugar cane. Qualified staff were also selected to be in charge of collecting sugar cane, assisting the company in resolving any issues.
BISUCO plans to increase the mill’s capacity to 5,000 ton from 3,500 ton per day in the next crop. It has thus carried out the expansion of sugar cane areas and improved the quality of sugar cane. Under the new project, there will be 3,500 hectares of sugar cane in 2013.
The company coordinated with Nhon Tho 2 agriculture cooperative in An Nhon town to prepare sugar cane variety for farmers. It also signed a contract with a sugar cane research center to experiment high quality sugar cane for further production.
BISUCO will assist farmers in using tractors, buying petrol, as well as improving the land quality. More importantly, it will focus on instructing the growers to apply technological advances. Furthermore, the company will still offer the same price for insurance in the new crop.
It is expected that BISUCO and farmers will reach an agreement in expanding the sugar cane areas and improving the quality of sugar cane.
