Stable growth for industrial production

Chairman of Binh Dinh’s Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Kim Phuong said most of the provincial industrial indexes have continuously increased recently. For example, the investment capital for industrial development has a growth rate of 31 percent per year and accounts for a large proportion of the provincial development investment capital. This proportion in 2005 and 2007 was 20 percent and 27 percent respectively.

Over the past few, a number of industries including wood processing, production of pharmaceutical products, seafood, beer, sugar; garment and textiles, footwear and animal feed have been Binh Dinh’s key sectors. They have made an important contribution to the production of commodities for domestic consumption and exports. In the first half of 2012, provincial industrial production value reached VND3.876 billion, a year on year increase of 6.7 percent and accounting for 44.7 percent of this year’s target.

To counter the difficulties that local enterprises are facing at the moment, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has carried out synchronous solutions to boost production and business. It has also coordinated with functional agencies, local authorities and enterprises to tackle issues relating to infrastructure, materials and laborers, and helped enterprises build their brands.

Phuong also said the province will concentrate on industrial development with high and sustainable growth. To do that, it will mobilize and take advantage of local power resources and advantages as well as attract and efficiently use power resources from outside. In addition, the province will also pay attention to cooperation and support from the country’s central key economic zone and the coastal Central region as well as international cooperation.

Fast growing export

The export strategy of Binh Dinh Province is a high and sustainable export growth, while promoting investment in the production and development of highly competitive commodities. As an agricultural province, Binh Dinh’s export revenue of farm produce always accounts for a large proportion (19 percent) of total export revenues, ranking second behind wood products. Two key products for exports are rice and cassava, which account for over 91 percent of the provincial farm produce export revenue, with export markets mainly in Southeast Asian countries and China.

In 2012, despite domestic and global economic difficulties, local trade activities have still maintained stable growth. Total export revenue in the first six months of this year reached US$258.8 million, equivalent to 53.9 percent of the annual plan and up 13 percent compared with the same period last year. Local goods have been shipped to 69 countries and territories across the globe.

These positive results were obtained thanks to the implementation of Governmental policies and solutions aimed at boosting production, curbing inflation and easing difficulties and obstacles for enterprises. Many local businesses have export orders for the third and fourth quarter of this year, and the outlook for export activities in Binh Dinh Province for 2012 is positive, with export revenue forecast at about US$480 million, an increase of 9.1 percent compared with last year.
