The Binh Dinh martial arts delegation on October 25 went to Italy and Rumania at the invitation of International Qwan Ki Do Association. This is a chance to honor Binh Dinh martial arts abroad.

"The International Qwan Ki Do Association invited Binh Dinh martial arts delegation to perform in Italy and Rumania from October 27 to November 5 on the occasion of the Qwan Ki Do World Championship. We prepared a special program for the upcoming performance," said Le Van Minh, director of Binh Dinh Department of Sports.

The delegation, led by Le Van Minh, include Master Phi Long Vinh and other three athletes. As planned, they will perform Vietnam and Binh Dinh traditional martial arts in two countries. "We selected three outstanding athletes, gaining high achievements at national level, to join the delegation. They have continuously practice for the nearly two months so that they will be able to well perform," said Master Tran Duy Linh.

Three athletes Mai Thanh Tuan, Tran Duy Nhat, and Tran Thi Tra Huy will perform Binh Dinh martial arts exercises with unique skills. They also showed self-defence techniques like weaponless self-defence, and weapon against weapon.

"Mai Thanh Tuan and I were chosen to participate in the 5th international festival of world traditional martial arts last year. We will perform in Europe this time, which is not only an honor but the responsibility to introduce Binh Dinh martial arts abroad," said athlete Huy.

The 72-year-old Master Phi Long Vinh will perform typical martial arts exercises, such as Ngoc tran (jade cup) Fists and Tu tru quyen (fists with four directions). Perhaps Ngoc tran Fists will attract much attention because its powerful techniques will be performed on a narrowed mat.

"Previously, I had refused many invitations to perform abroad, but this time I accepted the invitation owing to the significance of the tour. I would be happier if more famous Masters took part in to introduce Binh Dinh martial arts and share experiences with foreign Masters," said Master Vinh.

Also, 30 countries taking part in the Qwan Ki Do World Championship would be invited to participate in the 2nd international festival of Vietnam traditional martial arts held in Binh Dinh on the occasion of Tay Son Festival 2008, according to Minh.
