A night festival with flower garlands and colored lanterns will be held on Thi Nai lagoon for the fist time on the occasion of Tay Son-Binh Dinh Festival 2008.
A new idea
The nigh festival with flower garlands and colored lanterns on Thi Nai lagoon will be held with uninterrupted activities, helping people feel its real atmosphere.
It will include three parts: song and dance show, flower garlands and colored lanterns performance, and a ceremony of floating flower garlands and colored lanterns. 21 boats symbolizing 21 years of reform will be used in the festival, of which the biggest one will be designed as a big lotus and there will be decorated panels around its three sides.
Other 20 boats will be designed with smaller lotuses. 21 flower garlands and colored lanterns will be tied by a string, lying on Thi Nai lagoon. They are made of thick sponges to be floating in the water.
Impressive and unique
After the song and dance show at the beginning, the performance of flower garlands and colored lanterns will be started. 20 hidden boats will suddenly appear at the centre area with the background music. They will perform with different shapes, creating beautiful and significant images.
Thi Nai lagoon has Thi Nai bridge, a symbol for the reform and development of Binh Dinh. I, therefore, chose Thi Nai lagoon to hold the night festival flower garlands and colored lanterns, creating great feelings for people, according to People's Artist Vu Hoai. |
On two sides will be ten boats, crossing each other. After separating, they will converge into one point and then reach upward to create two big circles at both sides of the biggest boat. Ten boats on each side will be fixed as arrows or flocks of birds, quickly "flying" towards the big lotus before separating again. They will be a big circle with the lotus as center at that time.
After that, boats will move to create a flower around the biggest lotus and become ten big circles. The last scene, the most impressive and unique one, will be 20 boats starting from the position near Thi Nai bridge to closely reach the lotus and suddenly speed up, turning crosswise. Simultaneously, the light on the big lotus will be turned on.
After the performance, all boat will separate. People will begin floating flower garlands and colored lanterns on the lagoon while fireworks will be set off, ending a colorful night festival.
"If possible, each person will hold a candle when coming home, spreading the light everywhere. This symbolizes the development of Binh Dinh," said People's Artist Vu Hoai, author of the night festival.
