The third prize-winning photo "Hoa bien" (flower of the sea) by Dang Huy |
Two photos "Niem tin cua me" (the mother's belief) and "Nam thang dep nhat doi nguoi" (the best time of our life) by Hoang Van and Ngoc Tuan, respectively won two second prizes. They emotionally reflect the life under different views. In the former, for example, mother's glint, smile, and postures show the belief that her son will be mature after joining the army; meanwhile, the latter shows the pupil's beauty.
The third prize-winning photos, including "Hoa bien" (flower of the sea) by Dang Huy, "Tao hinh" (graphic depict) by Thanh Binh, and "Cung lam non" (Make conical hats together) by Ho Si Tu, reflect different views of Binh Dinh's people and landscape.
The photo "Mai mai ben nhau" (Together forever) by Pham Van Chai won the first prize for its unique image. It shows the love of an ethnic minority couple, making people feel that the love is long-lasting.
Nothing new
A half of prize-winning photos were of those who are members of Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, that is, Pham Van Chai (with one first prize and two consolation prizes) and Ngoc Tuan (with one second prize and three consolation prizes).
As regulated, each photographer was only awarded one highest prize. This means that two above-mentioned photographers would be able to won more valuable prizes because all their photos seemed better than the rest.
Of prize-winning photographers, Ho Si Tu was the only one who hasn't become a member of the Photographic Branch. The fact that some photographers winning prizes in the last year's competition lost their positions proved Binh Dinh's photographers haven't made any breakthrough in the art.
Most topics were not new. They reflect the life without any hidden messages. Photographers still use traditional photographic techniques, which isn't new and attractive.
"The quality and quantity were higher than those of the previous competition. But I think photographers should continue studying something new to make their works more creative and effective, especially in the integration period," said photographer Dao Tien Dat.
