Binh Dinh holds receiving ceremony of banh chung offered to national ancestor Hung Vuong

Binh Dinh Culture and Information Department and Tay Son district People’s Committee on April 29 held a receiving ceremony of Banh Chung (square glutinous rice cake (filled with green bean paste and fat pork)) offered to the national ancestor Hung Vuong at the Quang Trung Museum. The permanent vice-chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien and the vice-chairman of Binh Dinh province People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tro attended the ceremony.

At the Kings Hung’s anniversary this year, Ho Chi Minh City-based Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism offered 64 pairs of big banh chung (30 kg for each) and Chien Thang Company, Ltd cooked them at the Den Hung (Hung Temple) historical monument area. Phu Tho province People’s Committee decided to distribute 64 pairs of banh chung to all provinces nationwide (one pair for each province) after offering them to the national ancestor Hung Vuong.

The ritual of receiving banh chung was solemnly taken place at the three Tay Son heroes’ shrine. At the ceremony, the permanent vice-chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien delivered a speech about the Vietnamese nation’s origin and traditions, appealling all people to direct towards the ancestor’s land for expressing gratitude to the ancestors. Also, he called on the provincial bodies, agencies and people to unite, overcoming all challenges to make the province become better and better.
